Course Objective:
The course is designed to provide participants with an understanding on

1. The Third Generation Cellular System, the UMTS network;
2. Aspects of evolution of the GSM system towards the UMTS system;
3. The new Base Station System, UMTS Radio Access Network (UTRAN);
4. The evolution of GSM Switching System towards the UMTS network’s IP and ATM backbone.

What you will learn:
This Course is designed to provide the participant the principles and basic concepts of the most important of the 3G telecommunication systems- Universal Mobile Telecommunication System. You will be able to understand the architecture of a UMTS network, the role of the different network elements, the principles of CDMA.

3G is a broad subject, and it would be impossible to provide detail analysis of every aspect in such a short duration. Instead, the basics are discussed in detail.
